I,m a life long Republican,who like many others, was proud to see this country elect a man of color. Personally I would have perferred Colin Powell or Condy Rice. I hope and pray that leaves his radical friends and associates behind and that he will govern from the center. I pray that God will bless him and America!
January 20 should be a holiday. Not because a black man is being sworn in, but rather we will once again see the orderly transition of government from one party to another. George Bush will travel to the Capital as President, and leave as a private citizen, Barak Obama will go to the Capital as a US Senator and leave as our President. This is the definition of Democracy!
Now that another barrier is broken I hope that in the near future an openly gay man will take the oath with his partner or husband and their adopted children by his side. Then we will have overcome the last prejudice in this country.
